Elizabethton’s Turner named Climate Player of the Week; POY Watch

It was a tough call for this week’s Climate Controllers’ Player of the Week. However, one game-changing play proved to be the difference. Elizabethton’s Jacob Turner put the Cyclones up for good, and has been named the Climate Controllers’ Player of the Week for Week 7. Turner is the first honoree from Elizabethton. Elizabethton moves up, Hampton holds steady

It was Elizabethton’s turn to move up in the Tennessee AP Prep Football poll. The Cyclones moved up one spot to No. 5 in the Class 3A poll, while Hampton held steady at No. 4 in the Class 2A poll. Elizabethton rallied for a 21-20 victory over Tennessee High on Friday night. Elizabethton tallied 104 points in the poll, 37 behind No. 4 Liberty Magnet. Thomas leads EKU to win over Birchfield, Govs

Former Elizabethton teammates Ethan Thomas and Logan Birchfield saw their collegiate squads square off on Saturday. Thomas and the  Eastern Kentucky University football team never trailed on the way to a 51-13 win over Birchfield’s Austin Peay squad. Thomas was the Colonel rushing lead with 59 rushing yards on 12 carries with two touchdowns – in addition to three catches for 30 yards. Birchfield hit an extra point for Austin Peay.
