Football Playoff brackets set

Playoff time is here. All five Carter County high schools will participate in the TSSAA playoffs which kick off on Friday, Nov. 6. The brackets were released just after Friday night’s action finished. Below is a look at where Carter County’s teams line up in the race for the state championship. Class 1A Cloudland was the top-seed out of region one, and will host Coalfield in the first round. Warriors punch ticket to playoffs with Sams interception

The Warriors knew it was going to be battle on Rebel Hill. At the end of the night, they were enjoying a treat a night early. Brayden Sams intercepted a South Greene pass at the goaline with 58 seconds remaining to secure a 28-22 victory for Happy Valley in Region 1-2A action. Rangers washed out by Green Wave

Unaka looked to go into the playoffs with a pair of back-to-back wins. However, Midway had another plans. Unaka was unable to keep pace as the Green Wave captured a 41-14 victory on Friday night at Goddard Field. The Rangers were down 21-0 at the half, and held a 35-0 lead entering the fourth quarter. Unaka struck in the opening minute of the final quarter, but was unable to make a rally. Unaka will open the playoffs at Harriman next Friday. Elizabethton wins ninth straight to cap regular season

The Cyclones finished the regular season with a bang. Elizabethton rolled to a 40-0 lead in the first half and never looked back as they cruised to a 47-14 victory over Northview Academy on Friday night inside Citizens Bank Stadium. Hampton storms to 10-0 finish

It was a night of milestones for Hampton. The Bulldogs wrapped up their fourth 10-0 season in program history with a 54-8 victory over Cumberland Gap on Thursday night. During the win, senior Coby Jones set the season passing yard mark for the program, while Adam McClain broke the 1,000-yard mark for the season.
