Hampton unable to battle back against Marion

The adversity of a game finally proved to be too much for the Bulldogs. Hampton was unable to overcome early turnovers and an injury to Coby Jones in a  55-17 loss to Marion County on Friday night in the Class 2A semifinals at J.C. Campbell Stadium. Cloudland splits with Avery County

For the second night in a row, the Cloudland basketball programs hosted a full slate of games. The Lady ‘Landers walked away with a 59-40 over border rival Avery County (N.C.), but the boys’ team was unable to shake off a late run as they fell 64-36 to the Vikings. Girls Cloudland jumped out early and never looked back as they rolled to victory over the Lady Vikings. The Hampton and Happy Valley football teams were well represented in the Region 1-2A awards. Hampton’s Coby Jones was named the Player of the Year for the region, while Jerry Lunsford was named the Offensive Player of the Year for the Bulldogs.
