Cloudland Middle advances in sectional tournament

The ‘Landers used a strong second quarter to take command and never looked back at North Greene on Friday night. After trailing 7-6 at the end of the first quarter, the Cloudland defense held the Huskies to just one point in the second quarter to give the ‘Landers a 21-8 lead at the half. Elizabethton sweeps for Homecoming

Homecoming was sweet for the Elizabethton basketball programs. The Lady Cyclones cruised to a 77-20 win over Sullivan South, while the Cyclones held on for a 51-48 win over the Rebels. Bo Pless tallied 12 points for the Cyclones as Elizabethton saw South miss a desperation 3-pointer. Michael Robinson scored 11 points in the game, while Teva Mushayamunda scored nine points. It was senior night on Stoney Creek, but Hampton wasn’t gracious guests. The Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs picked up District 1-A wins on Friday night over county rival Unaka. Hampton ladies edged ahead late to take a 57-53 win, while the Bulldogs shook off a slow first quarter to roll to a 77-52 victory. The varsity opener saw the teams battle in a back-and-forth affair. Warriors pickup win over Johnson County, Lady Warriors roll

The Warriors picked up a key Three Rivers win, while the Lady Warriors left no doubt against Johnson County on Tuesday night on Warrior Hill. Happy Valley boys’ picked up a 60-52 win in the nightcap, while the Lady Warriors cruised to a 91-36 victory over the Lady Longhorns.
