EHS-PF game selected part of PrepXtra Game of the Week

Elizabethton will play in a little bigger spotlight in Week 7. The Cyclones game at Pigeon Forge on September 30 has been selected as the PrepXtra Game of the Week, and will be broadcast live. The game will be shown in Knoxville on WBIR, and will also be featured on 10News. The game will also be broadcast on Elizabethton picked up a 35-18 victory last season over the Tigers. HV’s Johnson named Female Athlete of the Year

Of all the nominees, there was one that stood out above the rest. Happy Valley’s Kalee Johnson was selected as the 2016 Carter County Sports Female Athlete of the Year as the three-sport star edged the most talented group of athletes. Johnson, who has signed with NCAA Division II UVA-Wise, was a leader on the golf course, basketball court and softball field for the Lady Warriors. Spring Fling: Carter County athletes shine in Thursday action

Carter County athletes shined in Thursday’s Spring Fling Action on both the track and field as well as the tennis courts. Track and Field State Championships Happy Valley’s Brianna Buck captured a third-place finish in the high jump. The senior recorded a mark of 4-10 in a competitive field. A pair of Lady Cyclones made their mark in the discus throw. Emily Schubert recorded a fourth-place throw in the event with a mark of 114-6. Hampton’s Jones honored as Male Athlete of the Year

A two-sport standout is the recipient of the first 2016 Best of Carter County Sports award. Hampton’s Coby Jones is the 2016 Male Athlete of the Year as picked by our panel edging a talented group of nominees. The senior helped lead the Hampton football and basketball program to state semifinal appearances to cap off a storied career.
