Cloudland rolls past Unaka

Cloudland celebrated Homecoming 2016 in style. The ‘Landers picked up a 72-6 victory over Unaka for Homecoming on Friday night at Orr Field. Cloudland improves to 3-4 on the season, while the Rangers fall to 1-6. Senior Noah Arnett rushed for 157 yards on 11 carries and four touchdowns for the ‘Landers, while freshman Hunter Blair added two scores and 69 yards on four carries. Cyclones cruise past Pigeon Forge

Elizabethton scored early and never looked back. The Cyclones rolled to a 47-7 victory over Pigeon Forge on Friday night to move to 5-1 overall with their fifth straight victory. Sophomore Corey Russell opened the game in style as he took the opening kick back for a 91-yard touchdown. After the Cyclone defense held strong, Carter Everett hit Conner Johnson for a 5-yard touchdown pass. It was a county clash at Orr Field on Thursday night. Unaka paid a trip to Roan Mountain to take on Cloudland in junior high action with the Rangers picking up a 28-12 victory. It was 8th grade night for Cloudland.  The ‘Landers held a 6-0 lead after a quarter of play, and both teams picked up touchdowns in the second as Cloudland maintained a 12-6 advantage at the half. Russell named Week 6 Climate Controllers’ Player of the Week

On a night full of standout performances, one stood out above the rest. Elizabethton sophomore Corey Russell has been named the Climate Controllers’ Player of the Week for Week 6 with his performance against Tennessee High. Russell surpassed the 350 total yard mark in the Cyclones’ 51-21 win on Friday night. The running back tallied 21 carries for 241 yards, and added 26 yards on two catches. EHS climbs in AP poll, Bulldogs, Warriors hold steady

A county team moved into the top five, while the stage is set for a crucial clash of top 10 teams with the latest AP High School Football poll. In Class 3A, Elizabethton picked up a two spots to climb to No. 5. The Cyclones, who picked up a convincing win over Tennessee High, tallied 65 points in the poll. Alcoa was an unanimous No. 1.
