County teams hold steady in AP poll

Elizabethton, Hampton Happy Valley all held steady in AP Tennessee Prep Football poll. In Class 3A, the Cyclones tallied 90 points for the No. 4 spot. Elizabethton, who dispatched Northview last week to claim the Region 1-2A title, is 9-1 on the season. Alcoa was the unanimous No. 1 in the poll, while Sequatchie County and Stratford were No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Unaka forfeits first-round playoff game

The Unaka football season has come to an abrupt close. The Rangers have elected to forfeit their Class A first-round playoff game at Greenback. Unaka went 1-9 this season, and have battled low roster numbers throughout the year. UHS qualified for the playoffs with a 56-33 victory over Concord Christian. Region 1-A only has five teams. The playoff brackets are set. With the conclusion of the regular season, the TSSAA has unveiled the brackets for the 2016 football championships. The first round is set for Nov. 4. All games in the playoffs will kickoff at 7 p.m. In Class 3A, R-1 No. 1 Elizabethton (9-1) will host R-2 No. 4 McMinn Central (4-6) at Citizens Bank Stadium. Warriors blast Rebels on senior night

Happy Valley celebrated senior night in style. The Warriors cruised to a 69-6 win over South Greene on Warrior Hill to wrap up the regular season with a 9-1 record.
