Unaka Baseball takes win; CHS and UHS softball

Unaka 4, University High 2 (baseball) A night after being upset by the Bucs, the Rangers took care of business on Stoney Creek. Unaka took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, and scored two more in the fourth after the Bucs had tied the game to take control. The Elizabethton High School softball team made it a sweep on Wednesday. The Lady Cyclones took a 20-5 victory over Happy Valley on Warrior Hill to take the season series over the Lady Warriors. HV jumped out to a 2-1 lead after an inning of play, but the Lady Cyclones scored eight runs in the second to take control. Elizabethton used a quick start by the Elizabethton star to their advantage on Warrior Hill. The Cyclones jumped out to a 6-1 lead en route to a 9-2 victory over Happy Valley in Three Rivers action. Elizabethton jumped out early as Michael Robinson pushed Ethan Eggleston across home plate in the top of the first. Brodie Adams pushed the lead to 4-0 with a three-run homer to left field. It was a rough day for the Cloudland softball team. The Lady ‘Landers dropped an 8-0 decision to North Greene to wrap up District 1-A play on Tuesday. After Cloudland retired the Lady Huskies in order to open the game, Cloudland got Kenzie Birchfield and Mattea Jennings on base but was unable to plate a run.
