Lady Cyclones see season end in heartbreaker

For six and a half innings, things were going Elizabethton’s way. Unfortunately, the bottom of the seventh didn’t follow suit. The Lady Cyclones saw their season come to a heartbreaking close with a 6-5 loss to CAK in an elimination game in the TSSAA Class AA softball tournament. Elizabethton weathers Sweetwater to advance

Elizabethton softball wouldn’t be denied on Wednesday. The Lady Cyclones battled back to take a 5-2 victory over Sweetwater in the Class AA Softball Tournament. Elizabethton advances to play the loser of the Creek Wood and CAK game on Thursday morning in an elimination game at 10 a.m. CT. With a win, Elizabethton would also play at 4 p.m., CT. Lady Rangers see season end in state tournament

Unaka came up short on Wednesday. The Lady Rangers saw their season come to a close with a 10-0 loss to Scotts Hill in the Class A Softball tournament. Unaka finishes the 2017 season with a 28-15 record. The Lady Lions jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning – including a two-run homerun. Elizabethton’s debut in the TSSAA Class AA Softball tournament didn’t go as planned. The Lady Cyclones were unable to keep pace in a 6-0 loss to Greenbrier in the opening round of the state tournament. EHS will take on Sweetwater on Wednesday in an elimination game at 10 a.m. CST. Unaka had a rough start to their state tournament run. The Lady Rangers were unable to keep pace with a torrid offensive attack in a 10-0 loss to Goodpasture.
