Baseball Roundup: Cyclones, Bulldogs drop games

Greeneville 4, Elizabethton 2
The Cyclones were unable to recover from an early hole against Greeneville.

Elizabethton will travel to Pigeon Forge on Friday for the sectional round.


The Green Devils jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first and pushed the lead to 4-0 after three complete innings. The Cyclones jumped on the board in the bottom of the fifth as Ethan Eggleston and Corey Russell recorded RBI apiece to cut the Elizabethton deficit to two.

EHS got the tying run on base in the bottom of the sixth, but was unable to get the run in.

Eggleston went 2-for-3, while Evan Carter, Matthew Dailey, Evan Perkins and Ryan Wetzel each had a hit.

In four innings of work, Russell allowed three hits with five strikeouts. Brodie Adams pitched three innings for the Cyclone cause as he allowed four runs on five hits with three strikeouts.

North Greene 8, Hampton 3
The Bulldogs were unable to get the bats hot on Wednesday night.

Hampton will travel to Greenback with a trip to the state tournament on the line on Friday.

The Bulldogs were unable to record their first hit of the game until the seventh as North Greene raced out to an 8-0 advantage. Hampton started a rally as Wyatt Lyons, David Fleenor and Dru Owens pushed runs across home plate. However, they were unable to keep the momentum going.
