The debate for the first Climate Controllers Player of the Week was contested, but one effort stood out the most.
Cloudland’s Preston Benfield recorded 193 combined yards as he nearly led his team to an upset of Class 3A Northview Academy on Friday and has been selected as the Week 1 honoree for his effort.
Benfield recorded 138 yards on 12 carries rushing while going 5-of-7 passing for 55 yards. The senior had a touchdown on the ground and a touchdown through the air.
Benfield made his return to the field this season after taking a season off last year.
Cloudland will open the home slate on Friday when they host Happy Valley.
