Elizabethton and Hampton both held steady in this week’s AP Tennessee Prep Football poll.

The Cyclones remained No. 5 in Class 3A with 101 points after last week’s victory over Pigeon Forge. Elizabethton was 21 points behind No. 4 Liberty Magnet. The Cyclones are 5-1 on the season.

Alcoa claimed 14 of the 17 first-place votes to rank first in the poll, while CAK and CPA was No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

Elizabethton will travel to Claiborne County on Friday night.

In Class 2A, Hampton held steady at the No. 4 spot with 124 points. The Bulldogs, who held off a late Happy Valley rally for the win, tallied one first-place vote with 124 points – just two points behind No. 3 Adamsville. Hampton is a perfect 6-0 on the season.

The poll also sets the stage for a top five clash this week as Hampton and No. 5 Sullivan North will square off at J.C. Campbell Stadium.

Boyd Buchanan claimed the remaining first-place votes to capture the top spot, and Marion County was No. 2 with 146 points.

Other local teams in the polls include Science Hill (No. 6 in Class 6A), Dobyns-Bennett (No. 8 in Class 6A) and Greeneville (No. 2 in Class 4A).
