Bulldogs win, Lady Bulldogs fall at Unicoi

The Hampton basketball programs hit the road to Unicoi on Monday night and came away with a split.

The Bulldogs picked up a 75-68 victory over the Blue Devils, but the Lady Bulldogs were unable to battle back in a 55-43 loss.


In the boys’ game, Hunter Davenport scored 23 points to lead Hampton to the non-conference victory. HHS doubled the Blue Devils 24-12 in the second quarter to get some breathing room and held on in the later stages of the game.

Dru Owens had 17 points for the Bulldog cause, while Jordan Bentley tossed in 13 points. Jonah Jones finished the game with 12 points.

Troy Podvin had 18 points to lead three Unicoi players in double-digits.

The Lady Bulldogs saw Shyanne Tuelle score 21 points, but they were unable to recover from a slow start.

Stephanie Campbell had 13 points for the Bulldogs.

Halie Padgett led Unicoi with 23 points.
