It was a rough trip to Baileyton for the Cloudland Basketball programs.

The ‘Landers dropped a 70-65 decision to North Greene, while the Lady ‘Landers fell 56-39 to the Lady Huskies.

In the boys’ game, the teams played nearly even as NG took a 17-14 lead after eight minutes of play. After North Greene pushed the lead to 11 points early in the second, Josh Blair willed Cloudland back to within two points before the end of the quarter. A pair of free throws gave NG a 34-30 lead at the half.

The ‘Landers came out of the half on a mission as a pair of runs gave CHS a 48-41 lead, but NG cut the lead to three points going to the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Huskies took control and the lead for good just past the half way point of the quarter.

Blair finished with 18 points, while Robert Leeper tallied 17 points. Malachi Benfield tossed in 10 points for the Cloudland cause.

Zane Potter had 27 points for North Greene.

In the girls’ game, North Greene took control early.

After the Lady Huskies took a 14-10 lead after a quarter of play, NG slowly pushed the lead to double-digits before the half.

Cloudland, however, wasn’t going done without a fight.
The Lady ‘Landers used a run to close the gap to six points in the third quarter, but that was as close as Cloudland could get before the end of the third quarter. After trailing 39-30 to start the fourth, the Lady ‘Landers cut the gap to eight points.

North Greene answered with a run of their own to increase the lead and secure the win.

The game was called with 46 seconds left due to an injury to a North Greene cheerleader.

Megan Lunsford had 13 points to pace Cloudland, while Stacia Wilson had 12 points. Jasmine Birchfield added nine points.
