Unicoi County had the right recipe to knock off a feisty bunch from Cloudland.

The Lady Blue Devils (6-9) turned a three-point lead at the half into a double digit affair, knocking off the Lady Highlanders (4-7) by a 74-54 margin in the third place game of the Johnson City Honda Classic heldTuesday at Bobby Snyder Gym in Gray.

In the contest, Lady Blue Devil senior Destinie Hayes recorded her 1,000th career rebound while Haley Webb paced the Unicoi County effort with 22 points, primarily from the 3-point line.
Senior Lady ‘Lander Kendall Mull went the distance with a game-high 25 points but the Roan Mountain defense ran out of answers in the second half with nine Lady Blue Devils touching the scorebook.
Both teams netted 19 points in the second period after Unicoi County jumped out to an early 15-12 lead in the first quarter.
In the second half, Mull kept Cloudland’s hope alive with nine points but the Lady Blue Devils were able to get production from freshman Halie Padgett in the paint, who secured 15 points, who filled in for Hayes periodically.
Payton Johnson touched double figures with 13 points while Faith Russell and Lisa Ellis combined for seven and six, respectively. Johanna Johnson rounded out the Cloudland scoring effort with a 3-ball.
Hayes led the rebound totals with 10 on the night and tacked on eight points.  Chelsey Harness was the other Lady Blue Devil to touched double digit scoring with 11, respectively.
