Cloudland hit the road on Friday night with no problems.
The ‘Landers rolled past Hancock County for a 48-12 Region 1-A victory in Sneedville. Cloudland improves to 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in region play.
It didn’t take long for Cloudland to get things started.
Junior Jordan Coffey scored on a 12-yard run to give Cloudland an early 6-0 lead, and Josh Blair pushed the advantage as he rumbled 60 yards for the score with 4:21 to play in the first.
The ‘Landers went to the air on the next drive as Malachi Benfield found Triston Lacy for an eight-yard touchdown. Cloudland maintained a 20-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Blair scored his second touchdown of the night to open the second on a four-yard touchdown scamper. Benfield hit Coffey for a 30-yard touchdown pass as the ‘Landers pushed the lead to 32-0.
After Hancock County broke onto the scoreboard, Benfield broke free for a long run to set Cloudland up inside the Hancock 10-yard line. Coffey made sure Cloudland capitalized with a five-yard touchdown run.
The ‘Landers added another score in the final seconds of the second quarter as Benfield hit Lacy for his second touchdown of the night – this one on a 45-yard pass.
Cloudland led 48-6 at the half.
Hancock added a touchdown in the final minute of the game to account for all the scoring.
Cloudland is set to travel to county rival Happy Valley next Friday.
