The Cloudland basketball teams picked up a pair of conference wins on Friday night.

The ‘Landers used a fourth-quarter rally to take a 60-52 victory over North Greene while the Lady ‘Landers held on for a 41-40 win over the Lady Huskies.

In the boys’ game, North Greene jumped out to a 15-10 lead after a quarter of play. Robert Leeper, Dillon Johnson, and Josh Blair sparked the Cloudland offense in the second as Cloudland closed the gap to one point by the half break.

After the Huskies pushed the lead out to eight points entering the fourth quarter, it was time for Cloudland to make a statement.

Leeper knocked down a trey to open the quarter and the CHS defense held the Huskies to just two points over the final eight minutes. That allowed the ‘Landers to take the victory and remain unbeaten in district play.

Leeper led the way with 18 points, while Blair added 12 points for the Cloudland cause. Hunter Shell tallied 11 points, five of which came in the fourth quarter. Johnson ended the game with nine points.

Andy Stevens led NG with 17 points.

In the girls’ game, the Lady ‘Landers took a seven-point lead into the final quarter and held on for the victory.

Cloudland, who led 37-31 heading into the final period, saw the Lady Huskies claw away at the lead and closed within one with just over four minutes to play. Despite being limited to just four points in the final eight minutes, Cloudland was able to hang on for the win.

Trinity Vines led Cloudland in scoring with 15 points, while Megan Lunsford and Stacia Wilson added nine points apiece.

Jasmine Birchfield had a team-high 14 rebounds in the game.
