Cloudland unveils 2015 football schedule

With their sights set on 2015, the Cloudland football team has announced the schedule for next fall.

The ‘Landers will open the season at Orr Field on August 21 against Sevierville’s Northview Academy before making the short trip to Happy Valley on August 28. Cloudland will jump into conference play with a trip to new conference foe Oakdale on September 4, which will be a 350-mile round trip for CHS.

Cloudland will return to Orr Field on September 11 as they welcome border rival Avery County (N.C.) for a nonconference tilt, and then will host Concord Christian the next week (September 18) for the first-ever meeting between the two schools in a conference clash.

On September 25, the ‘Landers will renew one of the area’s best rivalries with Hampton. The game, which has been moved from its traditional slot on the schedule, will be at J.C. Campbell Stadium and is a nonconference game.

Cloudland will open the month of October at county and conference foe Unaka (October 2) before returning home to host Tri-Cities Christian (October 9). The ‘Landers will close out the home portion of the regular season as well as conference play on October 16 by welcoming Hancock County.

The ‘Landers, who will take their bye week on the final Friday of the regular season, will close out the 2015 regular season schedule with a trip to Knoxville Catholic on October 30. The Irish knocked out Elizabethton in Class 4A playoffs last season before falling to eventual state champion Fulton in the second round.
