Elizabethton took care of business on Tuesday night and the end result was a district title.

The Cyclones captured a 7-1 victory over Unicoi County in the District 1-AA Championship game to secure the title as well as a home game in the opening round of the Region 1-AA tournament.

After the first three innings went scoreless, Unicoi County jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the visiting side of the frame. Elizabethton, however, tied things up in the bottom of the frame as Colten Miller scored off a Matthew Dailey single.

The Cyclones continued the inning as Logan Estep scored off a Nick Johnson sacrifice fly and Ethan Eggleston pushed Dailey across the home plate to give EHS a 3-1 advantage going to the fifth.

In the fifth, Corey Russell scored when Estep put the ball in play as EHS maintained a three-run advantage. Elizabethton put a bow on the win in the home side of the sixth as Miller and Eggleston crossed home plate off an Evan Carter single and Ryan Wetzel scored at the next at bat.

The Cyclone defense retired the Blue Devils in order in seventh to set off the celebration.

Carter had two RBI, while Evan Perkins, Jacob Mullins, Estep, Dailey, Eggleston, Wetzel, Carter and Russell each had a hit.

Lawson Wagner earned the win on the mound as he allowed just one earned run on three hits with five strikeouts.

The Region 1-AA tournament is set to start on Monday. Elizabethton will host the District 2-AA runner-up.
