Cyclones clinch Region 1-3A title

The eighth straight win for the Cyclones was never in doubt.

Elizabethton rolled to a 44-3 victory over Chuckey-Doak on Friday night to clinch the Region 1-3A title as well as the No. 1 seed for the playoffs.

The Cyclones jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a short touchdown run from Jeremiah Turner, and Logan Norman extended the lead to 14-0 midway through the quarter on two-yard touchdown run.

After the Cyclones defense recorded a safety, freshman Carter Everett hit Drew Bowers for a 32-yard touchdown pass to give Elizabethton a 23-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Black Knights added a field goal, but Turner answered with his second score of the night – from the three-yard line – to send Elizabethton into the locker room with a 30-3 advantage.

In the second half, it was all elizabethton.

Corey Russell caught a Hunter Tyree pass for a touchdown, and Norman scored his second touchdown of the night to cap off the scoring.

Turner led the way for Elizabethton with 147 yards on 16 rushes, while Norman had 10 carries for 113 yards. Everett went 4-for-6 for 55 yards. Tyree finished the game 9-of-12 for 83 yards, while Russell had 68 yards of receiving.

Elizabethton wraps up the regular season on Thursday night as they host Northview Academy.
