Elizabethton’s upset bids fell short on Thursday night.

The Cyclones dropped a 52-41 decision to Science Hill inside Treadway Gymnasium, while the Lady Cyclones fell 73-52 to the Lady Toppers.

In the boys’ game, Elizabethton held the upper hand early.
The Cyclones jumped out to a 14-9 lead after the first eight minutes, and maintained a 22-19 advantage at the half.

Science Hill opened the second half quickly to take the lead and extend the advantage by outscoring EHS 22-7 in the third quarter.

The Cyclones, however, weren’t finished yet.

EHS scored the first second points of the final quarter to close the gap to five points. The Hilltoppers answered the EHS run to secure the victory.

Adam Cornett, Parker Hughes and Eric Wilson had nine points apiece, while Nico Ashley added six points.

The Lady Cyclones saw a quick Science Hill start prove to be too much to overcome. The Lady Hilltoppers raced out to a 22-point lead and maintained a 28-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. Elizabethton fought back in the second quarter to trim the SH lead to 11 points at the half.

In the second half, the Lady Cyclones continued to battle, but was never able to catch up to the Science Hill squad.

Abby Townsend had 12 points to lead Elizabethton, while Cam Koroma and Destiny Little had eight points apiece. Morgan Headrick and Kaylen Shell each added six points for the Elizabethton cause.
