Cyclones roll past Central; Lady Cyclones fall in regular season district finale

The Elizabethton boys’ program ended Three Rivers play on a high note.

The Cyclones pulled away for a 68-44 victory over Sullivan Central inside Treadway Gymnasium. In the girls’ game, Elizabethton fell 57-33 to the Lady Cougars – who clinched the Three Rivers title.


For the Cyclones, Will Miller and Nico Ashley had six points apiece in the first quarter as EHS held a 17-13 advantage after eight minutes of play. Evan Perkins and Parker Hughes came alive in the second stanza as the duo combined for 20 second-quarter points to push Elizabethton to a 41-25 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Cyclones kept their foot on the gas and never looked back en route to the victory.

Perkins tallied 20 points in the win, while Hughes had 18 points. Ashley and Miller had 10 points each.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Cyclones were unable to keep pace with a torrid Sullivan Central attack in the second half.

After the Lady Cougars took an 11-point lead into the second quarter, EHS held steady in the second quarter as they trailed 29-17 going to the half.

The second half, however, was all Sullivan Central.

Elizabethton was unable to get anything going as SC outscored the Lady Cyclones 23-2 over the first eight minutes of the second half. From there, Elizabethton was unable to mount a rally.

Destiny Little and Camryn Koroma had eight points each.
