Elizabethton took care of business on Senior Night.

The Cyclones dispatched Sullivan South 52-27 to clinch the No. 2 seed for the playoffs along with a first-round home playoff game.

Elizabethton took the opening kick and marched down the field methodically. Corey Russell capped off the drive with a three-yard touchdown and Kade Hensley added the extra point. After South was forced to punt, Carter Everett and the Cyclones marched down the field as Everett hit Ryan Wetzel for a 14-yard touchdown pass late in the first quarter. That gave EHS a 14-0 lead after a quarter of play.

The Rebels, however, wouldn’t go quietly as Ethan Ward scored on a short touchdown to open the second period. Evan Perkins answered for the Cyclones as he caught an Everett pass and took it 61-yards for a touchdown to regain a two-possession lead.

The Perkins-Everett connection struck again midway through the quarter – this time on a 24-yard pass as EHS pushed the lead to 28-7. A late Ward touchdown cut the EHS lead to 28-13 at the half.

A third-quarter barrage left no doubt.

Russell completed a 17-yard pass to Wetzel to open the scoring, and Keelan Hall caught an Everett pass for a touchdown as EHS took a 42-13 advantage in the third. After South added a touchdown to their total, Austin Outland scored on an 11-yard touchdown run.

Jaxton Holly also added a field goal for the Elizabethton cause in the second half.

Everett had a school-record breaking night as he threw for 431 yards, while Wetzel caught a school record 16 passes. Everett went 32-of-49 through the air. Wetzel finished with 165 yards, while Perkins had 132 receiving yards.

Russell finished with 67 yards on 10 carries.
