It was a game for the ages inside the Stone Castle.

Elizabethton held on for a thrilling 21-20 victory over Tennessee High on Friday night after stopping the Vikings on a two-point conversion.

With the win, the Cyclones move to 4-1 on the year – with four straight wins since the season opening loss at Science Hill.

Elizabethton found themselves down 7-0 after the first quarter of play after Trask Marden scored on a 28-yard run for Tennessee High.

Jeremiah Turner evened the game at 7-7 in the second quarter with a three-yard touchdown run – which was set up by a Hunter Tyree pass to Jalen Smith.

Austin Henson and the Vikings, however, answered in the closing minute of the first half as Henson caught a 22-yard touchdown to give Tennessee High a 14-7 lead after two quarters of play.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Cyclones struck when Turner scored his second touchdown of the night from a yard out, but the extra point was blocked as Elizabethton trailed 14-13.

Elizabethton struck again on the next defensive series as Smith picked up a loose fumble for a 50-yard scoop and score. The two-point conversion put Elizabethton up 21-14.

The Vikings drove down the field, and found the endzone with 2:28 showing on the clock with a Cortland Carter touchdown. Instead of playing for overtime, Mike Mays’ squad played for the win, and Cameron Coleman stopped the conversion with a sack for Elizabethton.

The Cyclones jumped on the onside kick and iced the thrilling win.

Turner had a team high seven carries for 75 yards, while Turner tallied 16 carries for 43 yards.

Tyree went 10-of-18 through the air with 102 yards.

The Cyclones return to action on Friday night as they welcome Pigeon Forge to Citizens’ Bank Stadium.
