Eaton, Lady Warriors edge Cloudland in thriller

Jenna Eaton delivered when Happy Valley needed it the most, and the Lady Warriors took full advantage of the extra time.

Eaton drained a buzzer beating halfcourt shot to force overtime and Happy Valley picked up a thrilling 61-56 double overtime victory over Cloudland on Saturday night on Warrior Hill.

After the teams played to a 13-13 draw after a quarter of play, Cloudland’s Kendall Mull drained two 3-pointers to pace the Lady ‘Landers to a 22-18 lead at the half.
Mull led Cloudland with nine points in the first half, while Kalee Johnson and Eaton had six points apiece for Happy Valley.

In the third quarter, Mull scored seven of Cloudland’s 11 points, but the Lady Warriors saw Kaylee Street score four of the team’s nine points to keep pace. The Lady ‘Landers held a 33-27 advanatage going to the fourth.

The Lady Warriors made their move in the final stanza as they limited Cloudland to just one field goal in the period and Eaton scored seven points including the dramatic buzzer beater to force overtime. In the fourth quarter.

After the teams ended the first overtime knotted at 53-53, Happy Valley took control as they outscored the Lady ‘Landers 8-3 in the second extra period to take the win.

Johnson had a game-high 26 points, while Eaton scored 21 points.

Mull led Cloudland with 19 points, while Faith Russell tallied 16 points. Peyton Johnson tallied 11 points in the game.
