The annual Best of Carter County Sports starts out with one of the hottest teams in the state at the end of the year.
The Elizabethton baseball team has been named the Male Team of the Year for their outstanding season.
The Cyclones advanced to the state tournament and came up one game shy of the State Championship game. EHS finished with a 28-10 mark. Head Coach Ryan Presnell’s squad captured the District 1-AA and Region 1-AA Tournament Championships in style.
During the District 1-A tournament, the Cyclones outscored opponents 44-3 over four games. After dispatching West Greene in walk off fashion in the Region opener, Elizabethton dispatched eventual state champion Greeneville 9-4. EHS qualified for the state tournament with a walkoff win over Gibbs.
EHS won three games in the Class AA State Tournament prior to falling in the winner’s bracket finale of their pod.
