Elizabethton closes Three Rivers play with sweep

Elizabethton capped off the Three Rivers schedule in style on Saturday.

The Lady Cyclones cruised to a 107-17 victory over Johnson County while the Cyclones battled back to take a 54-50 win over the homesteading Longhorns.

In the girls’ game, Elizabethton rolled to a 41-4 first quarter lead and never looked back.

The Lady Cyclones held a 66-8 advantage at the half, and maintained an 86-8 lead going to the fourth quarter.

Kayla Marosites had 24 points to lead Elizabethton. Emily Kiser tossed in 16 points continuing her hot streak. Ashley Depew and Hally Burleson added 15 and 12 points, respectively, while Emily Schubert scored 10 points.

In the boys’ game, Elizabethton had to rally back from trailing 15-8 at the end of the first quarter. The Cyclones closed to within one at the half and tied the game at 40-40 heading to the fourth quarter. Teve Mushayamunda scored seven points in the fourth quarter to help Elizabethton pull away for the win.

Bo Pless had a team high 13 points for Elizabethton, while Mushayamunda recorded 12 points. Michael Robinson scored 10 points in the game.
