Elizabethton competed with a pair of the top teams around on Friday night but was unable to come out on top.

Elizabethton was unable to keep pace with the Hilltoppers as SH took a 71-57 victory at the ‘Topper Palace. The Lady Cyclones closed an early deficit but fell 63-52 to the Lady Hilltoppers.

In the boys’ game, the Cyclones jumped out early with a 9-0 run. The Hilltoppers quickly responded to take a slim lead into the second quarter. After EHS jumped back into the lead to open the second quarter, Science Hill quickly regained the lead.

The third quarter saw the Hilltoppers take control and never look back despite a hard fought Cyclone effort.

Hayden Townsend led Elizabethton with 14 points, while Michael Robinson tallied 13 points. Corey Russell scored 10 points for EHS.

The girls’ game saw the Lady Cyclones erase a double-digit first quarter lead.
Elizabethton found themselves down 14 points in the first quarter, but they kept fighting and slowly cutting into the Science Hill lead.

The Lady Cyclones were able to get within one point to open the third quarter, but the Lady Hilltoppers responded to push the lead back to five entering the fourth quarter.

From there, Elizabethton was unable to cut into the deficit but kept the pressure on Science Hill.

Kaylen Shell had 12 points to lead Elizabethton.
