The Elizabethton basketball programs kicked off the Roundball at the Topper Palace with a split with Knox Webb on Friday afternoon.

The Lady Cyclones slowly pulled way to a 76-25 victory, while Elizabethton boys fell 59-46.

In the girls’ game, Elizabethton held a 16-9 lead after one, and then saw the offensive attack leave no doubt.

Kayla Marosites finished with 23 points, and Kelci Marosites tallied 17 points. Emily Kiser had 16 points in the game. Emily Schubert finished with seven points.

The boys game saw the Spartans pull away slowly. Webb held a 12-point advantage before the Cyclones battled back to 30-22 at the half. Michael Robinson and Elizabethton used a third quarter run to close within three, but Webb answered with a run of their own.

The Cyclones nearly closed the gap again, but was unable to get the game to a single possession.

Robinson led the Cyclones with 15 points, while Bo Pless had 13 points. Jalen Smith finished with 10 points.

Both teams return to action on Saturday against CAK with games set for 2 and 4 p.m.
