The Cyclones jumped up to the No. 5 spot in the Tennessee Associated Press Prep Football poll. Elizabethton was off off this past Friday night.
The Cyclones received 80 points in the poll to move up two spots from last week’s ranking. Elizabethton will open the 2015 season on Friday at Science Hill, who was ranked No. 6 in the Class 6A poll.
In 3A, CPA garnered 10 of 17 first place votes to capture the top spot. Alcoa received the remaining seven votes to come in second, while Notre Dame was ranked fourth in the poll.
Hampton was not listed as receiving votes in the Class 2A poll despite a 54-17 victory over Avery County (N.C.) on Friday night.
