Elizabethton offense named Applebee’s Unit of the Week

It was a dominate air attack on Friday night in Erwin.

The Elizabethton offense has been named the Applebee’s of Elizabethton Unit of the week for Week 5 after recording a 35-0 win over Unicoi County.

The win improved Elizabethton to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in region play.

Hunter Tyree led the way for the offense as the senior threw for 278 yards on 15-of-22 passing. Jalen Smith had a team-high six catches for 71 yards, while Drew Bowers and Conner Johnson had 77 and 76 yards, respectively, with four catches a piece.

The offensive line led by Mark Chesser and Kaleb Whitehead paved the way for 96 yards as well as allowed Tyree time to find his receivers.

Jeremiah Turner averaged 3.4 yards per carry in the game on 10 carries to lead the Cyclone rushing game.

The Cyclones will travel to Tennessee High on Friday night for nonconference play.
