Elizabethton took care of business on Friday night.

The Cyclones picked up a 35-16 non-conference win against Tennessee High inside of Bristol’s Stone Castle. EHS improves to 5-1 on the season with the win.

Elizabethton set the tone early.

Carter Everett found Ryan Wetzel for a four-yard touchdown pass to give the Cyclones a 7-0 lead just over three minutes into the game. The duo hooked up early in the second for a 13-yard touchdown pass. In the closing minutes of the half, Corey Russell pushed the lead to 21-0 with a two-yard scamper. The Vikings, however, wouldn’t go quietly as a late touchdown trimmed the EHS lead to 21-7 at the half.

In the second half, THS used a long drive to open the third quarter and trim the Cyclone lead to 11. However, Russell extended the advantage back to 18 points, and Wetzel caught an Everett pass to give EHS a 35-10 lead in the fourth quarter.

Russell had 176 yards on 21 carries, while Everett was 14-of-23 with 180 yards passing. Wetzel finished with nine catches and 125 yards.

Elizabethton is off next week before traveling to Union County the following week.
