Elizabethton runs to Three Rivers Title

The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones ran rampant during the annual Three Rivers Conference track and field meet held at Sullivan North’s Benny Compton Field on Thursday, April 23.

Top three teams on the girls featured the Lady Cyclones, No. 2 Sullivan East and No. 3 Sullivan South. For the boys, Sullivan South took home top honors while the Patriots finished second and the Cyclones tacked on a third place finish.

For individual awards: Cyclone Ethan Thomas and Lady Cyclone Kyra Mccrory hauled in Outstanding Field Runner for both divisions.

Lady Cyclones who earned first place finishes included Autumn Thomas, Emily Schubert, 4×400 team (Hannah Osborne, Alayna Turbyfield, Randi Feutchenburger and Schubert), and McCrory.

Ethan Thomas won four field events for Elizabethton and two relay teams also earned top honors – 4×400 (Austin Depew, Cody Baker, Daegan Kerr and Baylor Anderson) and 4×800 (Andrew Johnson, Sullivan McInturff, Depew and Kerr).

The Happy Valley was also well represented with wins in the 4×100 relay (Dominique Haun, Carsen Whitlock, Emily Matthes and Kylie Simerly). Simply earned top honors in pole vault and Brianna Buck took home high jump honors.

The next leg of the track and field season is scheduled for May 5 with action continuing in Greeneville.
