The Cyclones answered the challenge, and now control their own destiny.

Elizabethton battled to take a 58-54 win at Sullivan East on Tuesday night in Bluff City. The Cyclones continued to hold the key to their conference race title hopes with an 8-1 mark.

After falling behind 10-2 in the opening minutes, Elizabethton battled back to keep in touch with the Patriots. In the final stanza, Elizabethton used a 10-2 run to secure the win ansering a 7-0 Sullivan East run.

Tyler Nichols led the way with 20 points, while Bo Pless tallied 16 points. Conley Bowers and Austin Cornett had 14 and 8 points, respectively.

Girls

Elizabethton shook off a slow start, but had no trouble rolling past Sullivan East to take a 65-27 victory over the Lady Patriots to win their 40th straight game.

Kayla Marosites and Megan Pietrowski scored four points apiece in the first quarter to help Elizabethton take a 14-8 advantage into the second quarter. Elizabethton doubled up the host Lady Patriots 16-8 in the second stanza as Kayla Marosites tallied eight points in the frame, and the Lady Cyclones took a 30-16 lead into the locker room at the half.

Marosites continued to lead the way in the third quarter as she scored eight points to help Elizabethton extend their lead entering the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter saw six Lady Cyclones score points as Elizabethton kept Sullivan East at bay.

Marosites tallied 21 points in the game, while Kelci Marosites recorded 14 points. Sarah Robinson scored seven points in the game.
