No. 4 Elizabethton baseball advanced in the District 1-AA tournament on Sunday with a 10-1 victory over No. 5 Johnson County in an elimination game at J. Fred Johnson Stadium. The Longhorns advanced to face the Cyclones after a 4-1 victory over No. 6 Happy Valley.
For the Cyclones, Hunter Hodges hit a three-run homerun as part of a five-run first inning, and they never looked back as they rolled to the victory. Elizabethton will now face three-seed Sullivan East on Monday in an elimination game.
The Longhorns advanced after putting four runs on the board in the first five innings. Â Happy Valley loaded the bases in the top of the seventh, but was unable to plate the runs before the third out.
Action at all four tournament sites resumes on Monday.
