A record setting performance was needed to become the first player to win the Applebee’s of Elizabethton Player of the Week two times in a season. However, Elizabethton senior Ethan Thomas delivered.

Thomas became Northeast Tennessee’s all-time leading rusher Friday night with an impressive game to earn his second Applebee’s of Elizabethton Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Thomas had 189 yards on 16 carries against the Warriors and scored three touchdowns.  The senior finished the night with just under 5,600 yards for his career.

Thomas earned his first player of the week honor earlier in the season against Sullivan East.

Elizabethton is 5-1 on the season, and just barely missed cracking the AP Top 10 this past week. The Cyclones return to action on Friday night as they travel to Sullivan North.

Other Applebee’s of Elizabethton Player of the Week honorees include Cloudland’s Colby Birchfield and Zac Benfield, Hampton’s Jerry Lunsford and Coby Jones and Unaka’s Micah Hunt.
