It was a tough call for this week’s Climate Controllers’ Player of the Week. However, one game-changing play proved to be the difference.

Elizabethton’s Jacob Turner put the Cyclones up for good, and has been named the Climate Controllers’ Player of the Week for Week 7. Turner is the first honoree from Elizabethton.

The junior carried the ball for 75 yards in the game. However, the biggest impact came when he picked up a fumble and took it the distance for a touchdown to give the Cyclones the lead for good in the 21-20 victory at Tennessee High.

Elizabethton is winners of four straight since the season opening loss to Science Hill. The Cyclones are ranked No. 5 in the Class 4A poll.

Hampton’s Coby Jones and Jerry Lunsford, Unaka’s Micah Hunt and Cloudland’s Coby Birchfield have also been selected as Player of the Week this season.

Turner and company welcome Pigeon Forge to Citizens’ Bank Stadium for a crucial conference matchup on Friday.
