Vines, Cyclone duo look to punch ticket to Spring Fling

Elizabethton tennis has a trio of tennis players that are looking to return to the state’s biggest high school stage at the Region 1 A-AA tournament.
The Lady Cyclone’s Danielle Vines will look to qualify for the state tournament in singles action after rolling through the District 1-A/AA tournament without losing a single point. Vines, who is ranked in several USTA individual polls including being ranked fifth in the Girls 16’s.
Vines was also the Player of the Year in the conference. She was joined by teammate Hannah Hulshult as well as Happy Valley’s Amber Earp and Gracie Sauer on the All-Conference team.
On the boys’ side, the duo of Caleb Bailey and Logan Birchfield will try to punch their ticket to the Spring Tournament. To punch their ticket to the Region, Bailey and Birchfield defeated a doubles team from Sullivan East. They came up short in the District Championship, but that won’t stop them from shooting for a berth to the state championships.
Bailey and BIrchfield both were named to the All-Conference team.
