Hampton High School has been forced to forfeit Saturday’s 8-7 victory against South Greene on Monday due to a pitch count violation.

According to the Greeneville Sun, the TSSAA ruled that Stone Hutchinson had pitched more then 10 total innings in a two-day period. As a result, the forfeit will end the Bulldogs season in the District 1-A Tournament.

On Friday, Hutchinson pitched 6 and 1/3 innings in 1-0 victory over University High, and then pitched against South Greene starting in the fourth inning.

According to the Greeneville Sun report, South Greene officials indicated they had not filed a protest. The Rebels were told late Monday morning they were going to be reinstated into the tournament.

South Greene will now face University High at 4:30p., at Indian Trail Middle School.
