Hampton hit the cruise control on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs scored early and often as Hampton rolled to a 95-56 victory over Hancock County in the Region 1-A quarterfinals. Hampton will take on Northview in the semifinals on Tuesday at 7:45 at Chuckey-Doak High School.
The teams traded points early before the Bulldogs scored eight straight to take an 18-10 lead into the second quarter. An Adam McClain 3-pointer along with buckets from Charlie Butler and Jose Velasquez pushed the Hampton lead to 25-10. After an Indian bucket, Wyatt Lyons and Butler counted with four straight Hampton points.
The Bulldogs maintained control to take a 51-30 lead at the half.
Any thought of a comeback was squashed by the Bulldogs. A 10-0 Hampton run to open the second half pushed the lead to 31 points. From there, HHS cruised into the semifinals.
Lyons had 23 points to lead Hampton. Butler added 18 points, while Dru Owens tallied 17 points. Velasquez had 10 points.
