Jaclyn Jenkins had the 3-point shot working for the Lady Trailblazers.

Hampton outscored Daniel Boone 17-9 in the fourth quarter but were unable to regroup from the first half, losing 52-44 in the nightcap of the Johnson City Honda Classic on Saturday.

Daniel Boone pulled things into high-gear early, leading the Lady ‘Dogs 11-5 at the end of the first but coach Bud Hazelwood’s crew would cut the gap within five, 24-19, heading into halftime.

Shyanne Tuelle and Alexus Grubbs spearheaded the second quarter rally, pitching in four points during the frame.

Boone capitalized out of the gate in the third, outscoring Hampton 19-8 for the necessary firepower to pull ahead.

Hampton wouldn’t go away late, using Hope Bridgeman’s six points in the game – all scored late – while Grubbs tossed in five.

Grubbs, a sophomore for the team, finished with a team-high 12 points and joined in double figures by Tuelle’s 10.

Madi Weir added nine in the paint while Tatum Street added six points. Senior Kim Swearingen was limited to just a point but played key on hustle plays to keep the Lady ‘Dogs hopes alive late.

Jenkins (16 points) and Sydney Pearce combined for 30 points in the winning effort.

Hampton moves toward the consolation bracket and will play Cherokee on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
