Hampton, Happy Valley headline Region 1-2A awards

Hampton and Happy Valley led the way in the Mountain East Conference football awards for this past season.

The Bulldogs saw Adam McClain named the Most Valuable Player of the Year in the conference. Happy Valley’s Dylan Street was named the Offensive Player of the Year, while the Warriors’ Austin Hicks was named the Defensive Player of the year.


Hampton’s Clay Fletcher was named the Lineman of the Year. Happy Valley’s Jason Jarrett was named the Coach of the Year.

On the All-Conference Team, Happy Valley was represented by Landon Morefield, Seth Chesser, Sage Haun, Dustun Sams, Skyler Hyatt, Brayden Sams, Sam Blevins, Chris Young, Nathaniel Nickles, Andrew McDonald, Dylan Townsend and Caleb Allen in addition to Street and Hicks.

Hampton saw Dakota Sanchez, Danny Winters, Hunter Davenport, Seth Anderson, Austin Boling, Dakota Crumley, Ty Breland, C.J. Wilson, Jason Russell and Chris Holtsclaw represent on the first team along with Fletcher and McClain.

On the second team, Karrington Richardson, Jacob Surcey and Michael Harrah represented the Warriors, while Gavin Hardin and Curtiss Carden were selected from Hampton.

Happy Valley is the lone conference team remaining in the playoffs. The Warriors are set to travel to Austin-East on Friday night with a state semifinal berth on the line.
