Hampton bounced back in a big way on Friday night.

The Bulldogs scored 23 unanswered points en route to a 30-8 victory over Sullivan North in Region 1-2A play at JC Campbell Stadium. With the win, Hampton improved to 3-3 on the year and 2-0 in region play. HHS moved into a tie for first in the region race with South Greene.

The Bulldogs seized control early.

Hampton saw Alex Hardin hit Matt Hughes for a seven-yard touchdown pass, and Michael Harrison tacked on the extra point to give HHS a 7-0 lead. That was the way it would stay until the Golden Raiders scored in the final minute of the half and converted the two-point try to take an 8-7 advantage at the half.

The Bulldogs regained the lead in the third quarter as Lane Potter scored from 51 yards out and then added the conversion to retake a 15-8 lead for the home team.

From there, it was all Hampton

The Bulldogs saw Hardin dive into the end zone from nine yards out for a score, and then the quarterback found Hayden Birchfield for the conversion as Hampton pushed their advantage to two-scores. Potter added a six-yard touchdown late in the game to secure the win.
Conor Jones and Tubby Carden had interceptions for the Bulldogs.

Hampton now turns their attention to county foe Cloudland next Friday. That game is set to be held at Orr Field in Roan Mountain.
