Happy Valley was on the wrong side of a heartbreaker.
The Warriors were unable to respond to a late touchdown in a 15-14 loss to Sullivan North on Warrior Hill on Friday night. The loss drops HV to 5-3 on the season.
Happy Valley took a 6-0 lead late in the first quarter, but North battled back midway in the second to take an 8-6 lead. That is the way the teams would enter the locker room at the half.
The Warriors regained the lead early in the second half.
The teams traded possessions as HV maintained a 14-6 lead going into the fourth.
HV advanced into North territory but was stopped on fourth down midway through the quarter.
The Raiders methodically worked their way down the field and scored with 1:11 remaining. The ensuing extra point gave SN the lead.
In the final minute, Brayden Sams and the Warriors advanced past midfield. However, HV was unable to convert a fourth down in the closing seconds.
Will Tittle had 71 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown, while Sams added the other HV score.
