The championship game of the 2015 Johnson City Honda Invitational had a Carter County flavor on Thursday night, and the Lady Warriors had the secret weapon.

Happy Valley’s Kalee Johnson scored 30 points and recorded six blocks to lead the Lady Warriors to 63-50 victory over Unaka.

Johnson, who was named the tournament MVP, set the tone early, but the Lady Rangers hung right with Happy Valley – who led 10-8 at the end of the first quarter. However, the Lady Warriors took control in the second period outscoring Unaka 23-13.

From there, the Lady Warriors slowly added to their lead to take the victory.

Emily Whitaker tallied 11 points, while freshman Baylee McGee and Charli Bare had eight points apiece.

Unaka was led by Hannah Tipton and Katlyn Weaver has both recorded 12 points. Sierra Wright added seven points.
