After Happy Valley pulled off an upset on Wednesday night to extend the season, the Warriors had plans for another one on Saturday. Unfortunately, Johnson County had a better idea.

Happy Valley dropped a 57-37 decision to the Longhorns in the District 1-AA semifinals at Elizabethton. The Warriors move to the consolation game on Tuesday afternoon where they will face county rival Elizabethton – who lost to Unicoi on Saturday in OT.

Happy Valley found themselves in an early hole on Saturday.

The Longhorns jumped out to a 9-2 advantage in the opening minutes of the game, but Jake Surcey and Bryce Carter broke the JC run for HV. After trailing 14-9 after the first eight minutes, Kevin Whitaker and Brayden Sams added baskets to counter the

Johnson County attack to pull within four points. A Longhorn run to end the half gave JC a 39-27 lead at the half.

Johnson County opened the second half with quick points and never looked back as they limited the Warriors to just 10 points in the second half.

Carter led the Warriors with 11 points, while Whitaker had 10 points for the HV cause.
