Kalee Johnson brought the fight early but Blue Devil long balls kept an upset bid suppressed in softball action Thursday night.

Unicoi County used three home runs and a solid performance in the circle from Tiffany Laughren to capture an 11-1 victory over Happy Valley at Lady Devil Diamond in Erwin.
The Lady Blue Devils remain spotless in Three Rivers Conference at 8-0 with the victory and extended their regular season record to 23-2 overall. The Lady Warriors fell to 18-10 (TRC 8-2), with both losses coming to UCHS.
Tiffany Laughren, who recorded the win in the circle for UCHS, put UCHS on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first with an RBI single, scoring Haley Webb, aboard on a leadoff single. Laughren later scored off a Cassie Foster RBI double to give UCHS a 2-0 lead heading into the second.
Johnson showed her wheels in the second, getting aboard on an infield hit and used the base running advantage to score later on a throwing error.
The Lady Blue Devils were quick to rally back with home runs from Foster, Taylor Wright and Hannah Keasling to ultimately come away with the victory.
Laughern knocked in three hits to lead UCHS while Foster and Wright and two each.
