It was home, sweet, home for Elizabethton on Friday night.
The Cyclones celebrated Homecoming 2017 in style with a 49-0 victory over Grainger County at Citizens Bank Stadium.
Corey Russell struck first for the Cyclones. The junior running back scored on a two-yard and Kade Hensley booted the extra point to give EHS a 7-0 lead.
Elizabethton saw the throws game get cranking as Carter Everett hit Evan Perkins for a 71-yard touchdown, and Ryan Wetzel caught an Everett pass to give EHS a 21-0 lead at the start of the second.
Wetzel caught his second touchdown of the night from Everett on the ensuing drive with a nine-yard scoring play midway through the second stanza. The final minute of the first half saw Everett hit Perkins for a touchdown for the second time on the night – this one from 13 yards out. That gave Elizabethton a 36-0 lead at the half.
Cameron Trimm and Gavin Lowe added touchdowns for Elizabethton in the second half.
Everett finished 15-of-19 for 247 yards and four touchdowns. Russell ran for 67 yards on seven carries.
The Cyclones return to the road next Friday with a trip to Tennessee High.
