It was a tough drive to Farragut on Friday night for the Rangers. However, Unaka made the best of it.
Micah Hunt scored five total touchdowns to power the Rangers to a 34-0 victory over Concord Christian on Friday night in Farragut after a hot and slow ride through Knoxville traffic.
Unaka set the tone early as Hunt carried the ball five times on the opening drive, and capped it off with a three-yard touchdown run. After converting the two-point conversion, the Rangers held an early 8-0 lead. The teams traded points until Brandon Guinn nabbed an interception at midfield for UHS.
Neither team was able to get back on the board before the quarter ended as Unaka maintained an 8-0 lead.
Hunt and the Rangers struck again as Hunt broke free for a 53-yard touchdown run shrugging off Lion tacklers on the way to the goal. After Bryson Street jumped on a CCS fumble, John Ramsey found Hunt on a five-yard slant for a touchdown and the two-point conversion gave the Rangers a 22-0 lead at the half.
After Unaka had to punt on their opening drive of the second half, Guinn jumped on a muffed punt to set the Rangers up deep in Concord territory. On the first play of the ensuing drive, Hunt broke free for a 25-yard touchdown to send Unaka into the final quarter with a 28-0 advantage.
The final quarter saw Unaka have a case of deja vu as Hunt scored on the first play of the drive, this time for a 35-yard run. The Lions held the ball for the majority of the final quarter, but Guinn preserved the shutout with his second interception of the night.
Hunt finished the night with five total touchdowns, four rushing and a receiving, and had 217 yards on 14 carries in addition to five catches for 56 yards. Ramsey went 8-of-11 passing for 55 yards.
The Rangers defense held the Lions to just 137 yards on the night.
The win moves Unaka to 1-2 on the season.
The Rangers return to action on Friday with a trip to Harriman for nonconference play.
