HV pulls away for Homecoming win

It was a slow start, but Happy Valley wasn’t about to let Cosby ruin the Homecoming party.

The Warriors pulled away to take a 44-6 victory over the Eagles in a Region 1-2A matchup on Warrior Hill. With the win, HV improves to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in region play.


Cosby took advantage of an early miscue with as Keaston Jackson took a fumble 30-yards for a touchdown on the game’s second drive.

Happy Valley answered later in the quarter as Will Tittle broke free for a 40-yard touchdown, and the Michael Harrah extra point gave HV a 7-6 lead going to the second.

On the Warriors’ first drive of the second quarter, Gabe Nickels set HV up with a great punt return and Eli Ayers hit Dakota Cochran for a 24-yard touchdown. Cochran returned to the endzone two plays later as he had a pick-six from 28 yards out.

Happy Valley ended the half on a positive note as Harrah hit a 41-yard field goal to give HV a 24-6 advantage at the half.

In the second half, there was no doubt.

Ayers hit Bryce Carter for a 12-yard touchdown in the third to extend the Warrior lead. Matthew Bahn also got in the scoring act as he scored two touchdowns to round out the scoring.

Tittle finished the game with 15 carries for 139 yards, while Bahn tallied 55 yards on six carries.
